Because of its vast mineral wealth, The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is the envied of the world. Nevertheless, without mature political leaders embodying the culture of excellence and a meritocratic system to capitalize on its mineral wealth, the illicit exploitation of its mineral and the low-level wars in the East will continue unabated ravaging its population with its wealth. Our strategy is to teach young Congolese as early as primary school to reject the anti-values, and adapt the culture of excellence that enables a meritocratic system to act as agents to bring change and a lasting peace in this country. Mu-Ntu is a long-term project for a duration of 12 years with the objective to change the Congolese society and the way this population conceive information, observation and facts.
To understand project Mu-Ntu, we need to understand the meaning of Mu-Ntu as it applies to the culture of Bantu people. Mu means self and Ntu is the head or spirit in the self (head). There is a need to teach the Congolese people (Mu-Ntu) to adopt new values. We understand that the current mediocrity system that has been in place since the arrival of the Alliance of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Congo (AFDL) has destroyed all the positive moral, civic and societal values and inverted it with a system of mediocrity. The problem that has plagued Congolese is the corrupt attitude of its politicians. The Congolese people have experienced a total decline in values where mediocrity has become acceptable norm in this society. In fact, it is the current regime that has accelerated this declined and unless changes are made, Congolese will continue to live in total mediocrity.
The reasons of the Congolese tragedy are related to the corrupt nature of its political leaders, its lack of civility and patriotism. Although the Unites States of America willingly tried to restore the relationship with the DRC, the lack of a mature Congolese Think Thank has once again derailed US foreign policy toward the Congolese tragedy these last decades. Therefore, the creation of an effective group such as CRBC to act as a catalyst to facilitate Congolese American relationship is imperative. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), right in the Heart of Africa is arguably one of the wealthiest countries in term of natural resources. However, the history of the Congo remains marked by incessant human right violations from the “Scramble for Africa” to present. The reasons of the Congolese tragedy are definitely endogenous and exogenous, and the current state of affair has to be revaluated to avoid the drift towards chaos. Right after its independence, the country was in the brink of partition as the province of Katanga attempt to secede from the DRC. The intervention of the United Nations saved the country from the brink of collapse. What was true then in 1960 and still true today is what Andre Lefebvre said, “In many ways, the Congo was just a mining camp”.
The history of the DRC reveals a succession of wars from 1960 to the present day. The present day low-level wars are simply a continuation of the Second African world war. It is always related to mineral wealth is and influenced by external forces dividing the people to create opportunity to plunder the minerals. However, how many Congolese died whatever the atrocities are committed during the war campaign as Andre Lefebvre said is all considered collateral damaged and the world watch idly. The arrival of the AFDL made the situation worse to this day. Approximately 6 million and counting of Congolese have died since 1996 even with the presence of a robust UN Peace keeping forces on the ground and the world does not want to talk about it. This is the Congo silent genocide.
Again, just as Union Miniere and the mineral was the cause of the crisis in 1960 where 100 million Congolese died, this time again the highly demanded mineral is fuelling the war. With the complicity of corrupt leaders, the generals and some neighbouring countries, the illicit plundering of mineral resources in the eastern Congo continues without regard to the well-being of the nation and its people. The issue facing the Congolese is mainly political one created by the political class. Corruption is rooted to the core of the political class and has completely blinded itself and detached to the base and its need.
The project will teach Congolese people to adapt the culture of excellence and a meritocratic system throughout every facet of the Congolese life, to become servant leaders with integrity and high morals values.
With the “new Congolese”, we will be able to transition to the culture of excellence and accept new values. These include:
Transformations of the Congolese to a “new Congolese” to adopt the value of excellence as the facto value system build into him.
Build Congolese to understand civility and the primary interest of the nation.
Create disciplined Congolese to reason methodically to find solutions to problems.
Remove clientelism, emotionalism and fanaticism from political process.
Objective minded citizens who believe in working as a required tool to build national wealth and engage his body, soul and spirit to be a trailblazer for the nation.
Always ready to defend the interest of the nation above personal interest.
